The 6th Month...

Yeah, finally Andre is 6 mths old and it is time to intro solid to him. But unlike Amadeus, Andre doesn't know how to swallow his cereal. Never mind, today is the first day. Shall try again tomolo.

His milestones so far:
- able to sit unsupported for a few secs
- learning to crawl backwards
- will grab anything in sight and put straight into his mouth
- started to babble some baby words
- loves to play and smiles...

Anyway, jus wanna wish my darling boy to be healthy and smiley always :)

OUCH!!!

To get to Amadeus' school, we had to either take the lift or the stairs at the Anchorvale CC. While walking towards the lift, Amadeus was pointing to the stairs as I believed tat was his usual routine to school (Normally it was his daddy who brought him there). So thinking tat it shouldn't pose too much problem for me, I used my right hand to hold Amadeus while I was carrying Andre and holding on to his sch bag wif my left hand.


As I was telling Amadeus not to put his hand on the side railing, I missed a footing and fell down a couple of steps together wif Amadeus. I landed hard on my bum and in the process, sprained my left ankle and brusied my right calf. Luckily I hold on tight to Andre and he was not hurt. Tink Amadeus hurt his calf as he kept saying , pain pain. But I didn't see any bruise or bleeding (he did suffered a cut and a bruise on his right calf upon closer examination) luckily he didn't roll down the stairs. A kind auntie walked passed and offered to carry Amadeus down the flights of steps for me :)


Till now both my legs still hurt. Guess I need to go and see the sinseh liao...If not, how to go to Malacca in a week' s time...

Did we make the correct decision???

Hb and I decided to put Amadeus into another childcare centre (CC) which doesn't has aircon and had a better curriculum - using the concept of the 8 Multiple Intelligence.

The reasons y we wanna change are firstly, the place are air-conditioned. As Amadeus had sensitive airways, he is not suited to be in aircon place for too long. Secondly, the quality of the teachers is a main concern too.

We had already registered and paid the deposit for the new CC and Amadeus will be starting school on 15 Dec.

But today, when I brought Amadeus to sch, his principal, who is also his form teacher, spoke to me. She was sad to see Amadeus go as she can see the transformation in him. She even said tat the assistant teacher who has been taking care of Amadeus since Day 1 felt tat it was a pity to see him leave. Somemore, Amadeus gets along very well wif all his teachers, friends and even the cleaning aunties. Everybody knows his name including those children in other classes. Even some parents know Amadeus too as he will greet everybody tat comes into the centre every morning. The principal says that she will always welcome Amadeus back even if there is no vacancy. She will try to squeeze him in...haha...

After talking to her, I had been thinking whether did I make the correct decision in removing him from a familar environment and putting him into a strange place and has to make him adapt all over again...What should I do???

But everything is already in place - paid reg fees, deposit and the sch uniforms. So we can't possibly back out now. Just have to hope tat Amadeus will also be equally happy in his new school. Worse come to worse, we just put him back to his current CC if he really has problem adapting the new environment.

The 5th Mth

Andre is 5 mths old today :)

He is getting more n more playful and curious abt his surroundings. His grasp is also getting much better. He basically can grasp anything tat we give him and he will automatically put in into his mouth *faint*.

He also started to flip sometimes ago and so, whenever I put him down, he will flip and hence we have to keep a close eye on him as in a matter of seconds, he will roll out of the bumper mat and onto the cold hard floor (scared tat he will bump his head on the floor).

His love of sucking his fist/fingers bothers me alot and even after introducing pacifer to him also doesn't improve the situation. He can literally suck his fist the whole day...*my gawd*. Just hope tat he will outgrow this habit when he is older.

He is also starting to recognise the ppl ard him. He is very attached to me and even when someone else is carrying him, he will still keep looking at me and smile widely towards me. And when he cannot find me for quite a while, he will wail loudly. And whenever he sees me or hb, he will smile widely and kick his legs and move his hands excitedly. So cute!

Anyway, we just want our cutie-pie to grow up to be a healthy and happy toddler.

Andre's 2nd 6-in-1 & Rotarix

Yesterday afternoon, hb came back home during lunch to bring Andre for his jab as I need to be at home taking care of Amadeus.

Same as the pevious time, Andre didn't cry or scream when being jabbed on the butt. Dr Lillian also commented tat his development was quite good :)

Glad tat Andre didn't had any fever but he had diarrhea due to the Rotarix.

His stats:
Weight: 6.4 kg (75 percentile)
Height: 63 cm (75 percentile)

Gastric Flu or Food Poisoning???

The doc also not sure...anyway, he said tat now got a lot of viruses flying ard and last nite alone he already saw alot of kiddos wif similar symptoms like Amadeus...

anyway, this is the story....

Amadeus coughed very badly in his sleep and ard 3pm am, he vomitted big time, out came his dinner and hb changed the bedsheet. Amadeus felt nausea n vomitted some phelgm out again n I bathe him after tat. We thought tat this is the end but who knows, within minutes upon hitting the sack, he vomitted again...luckily hb reacted fast n quickly carried him to the bin to let him carry on his vomitting hence no need to change bedsheet. After tat, I cleaned him up and I slept wif him while hb went to sleep wif Andre. Who knows, jus when I was falling asleep, Amadeus stirred in his sleep and vomitted out alot of yellow juices and phelgm. I quickly on the light n to my horror, I saw him lying face up on the bed wif vomit all over his face and on the bed.

I quickly woke hb up and told him tat something was not rite cos normally Amadeus only vomitted once if it was due to coughing. This time round, he would vomit whenever he drinks water (luckily we didn't give him any milk). And his 'want to vomit but nothing to vomit' expression is so pitiful cos I knew how terrible tat feeling was. I was feaked out and decided to bring him to KKH at 6am while hb stayed at home wif Andre and went to work after my mom came over.

Luckily there were not much patients at the A&E when we reached there at abt 6.30am. So we managed to see the doc relatively fast (he vomitted one more time). He need to stay there to take some anti-vomitting med and glucose water to see whether his vomitting continues. Luckily, no more vomit and after examining by the doc and collecting his medication, we went to the food court for some porridge and the exhausted Amadeus fell asleep on the way home.

Not again...

Just when Andre is going to take his 2nd 6-in-1, he started coughing quite badly and even merlion his milk this morning...how many times must I postpone his jab? had been 2 times liao and if I postpone again, don't know when he will be able to take the jab considering the ridiculous amt of kids visiting the clinic and the crazy waiting time. He was recovering and so I reduced his medication frequency from 4 times to 3 times per day and sometimes 2 times. And, his cough came back. My gawd! Does this means tat he has to keep taking medication to keep the cough at bay?

Amadeus also...He was recovering too and the moment he went back to CC, his cough started to come back. I'm really getting very frustrated wif all their sickness! Please, please let them get well soon and I mean real soon....Amadeus had been deprived of his swimming and it had been ages since we brought him to have some fun at fidgets or eXplorer.

Andre is 4th Mths Old

I'm so happy tat I managed to survive these 4 mths. It was not easy taking care of Andre cos he cries alot in the daytime and always wanted me to be around to play or accompany him. He doesn't like to be left alone in the bouncer. And when he cried, it is non-stop till I carried him and the moment I carried him, his crying immediately stop! I felt really frustrated at times as I couldn't do anything and I would scold and beat him on his thigh. I would felt guilty after tat as he was still so young and the only thing he can do is cry but instead of pacifying him, I screamed & beat him. And instead of being angry wif me, he would still smile at me after his crying. Really felt very bad. So I resolved to be more patient wif him and to be more tolerant of his crying. Hope I can achieve this.

Anyway, Happy 4th Mths to my little baby :)

Mixed up Andre's Lunar date

hahaha....I posted b4 tat we helped Andre performed the 'stop drooling' ritual during his lunar 4th mth...but today, I realised tat I actually mixed up the day. Amadeus is 初十 and Andre is 初二十..so by rite, Andre's 4th mth shld be tomolo...thus shall perform the ritual again...as for the shaving, what's done cannot be undone..blur me...

Recently, whenever I stuck Amadeus to bed, I will say 'nite nite' to him and kiss him on his cheek and end wif a 'love you'. He will immediately reply 'love you' to me and sometimes followed wif a hug. His reply never fail to warm my heart. Felt so happy upon hearing tat :)

Sometimes when I was lying on the bed wif him, he will put his hands ard my shoulder and my head will be  resting on his chest. This never fails to make me laugh as this action is like how a bf will treat his gf...haha...

Really must treasure the times spent wif him now, or else when he gets older, don't tink he will still hug me like tat.

4th Mth (Lunar) Shave & 'Stop Drooling' Ritual

Andre turns 4th mth today according to the lunar calendar. So we brought him for a shave at Hua Xia at Punggol Plaza after both boys woke up from their nap. We were so glad tat Andre didn't fuss or whine at all thru'out the shave unlike Amadeus when he was a baby. He was not bothered at all by the shaver and this is a gd thing n we hoped tat subsequent hair cuts will be this smooth and fuss free :)

By the time we reached home, it was already 10pm plus and we had to wake Andre up at 11pm plus to perform the 'stop drooling' ritual b4 it passes midnite. He was crying thru'out the short ritual as he wanna sleep...hope this ritual really helps in his drooling, if not I can foresee a 2nd Amadeus liao...

My Convocation

I finally graduated from my business course after 4 long years (supposed to graduate after 2 yrs, but took a yr deferment and spread my remaining module over a yr).

My convocation was held today at 3pm at SIM headquarter. Hubby was there to see me received my certification.

Andre's 2nd Echocardiogram

Brought Andre back for a 2nd Echo to see whether his tiny hole in his heart had closed.

And the diagnosis is:
Small atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale 3mm.
Patent ductus arteriosus spontaneously closed.

In simpler terms, it means tat the hole in his heart is still there but the doc is very confident tat it will closed by itself and no cause for worry. Need to repeat the echo in 8 mths time, ie, in 27th April 2010.

The damage is $105 and can use CDA to pay for it.

2nd Review

Brought Amadeus for his 2nd review and Andre there as well to see PD as he caught the flu bug from Amadeus.


According to the doc, his infection is clearing but not completely and hence, have to take another bottle of antibiotics and cough medication (When I heard that, I felt so sian lor, cos it was difficult to feed him the bitter antibiotics). He was also given Zyrtec and Zaditen (like a lung tonic) to take for his lungs and had to be taken for a cool 6 mths!

So if Amadeus no longer cough or doesn't have a fever, he does not need to come back again. We just need to come back to replenish his med when they r finished...

Andre is 3 mths old :)

Time flies and Andre is already 3 mths old...but for the last 2 mths, Andre had been sick on and off, all tks to his bro, Amadeus. We just hope tat he will recover soon from all his illness and remain healthy thereafter. This is my only wish as it is very heartache to see him not well and hence not much appetite for milk.

Anyway, Andre is also a playful boy, always want to play and 'talk' and when no one is there to entertain him, he will get angry and whine...really naughty.

Lastly, hope his on & off eczema will be completely clear soon.

1st Review

Brought Amadeus for review at the PD's clinic...still not clear of pneumonia yet but definitely getting better...have to complete another round of antibiotics, cough med and wheezing med (additional med and bitter).

I already have problem feeding him the antibiotics and now another bitter med...poor Amadeus. Now he had a total of 4 different kinds of med to take everyday and have to complete 3 of them...

Hb and I can only hope tat we will hear gd news when we bring him back for a 2nd review...but when he is clear of his lung infection, he will have to be on Zyrtec or Singulair for a period of time (it has got to do wif his lungs, forgotten wat it is for).

Tomolo, he will be going back to school after a weeks' absence. Hope tat his condition will not worsen when he goes back.

Amadeus has Pneumonia

Amadeus started coughing very badly last nite n even vomitted twice. He hasn't made a full recovery from his previous cough (still coughing occasionally at nite) and now started a new round again.

We decided to bring him to see the PD tat we brought Andre previously (Dr Cecilia is very gd in diagnosing the problem). Initially, we still had 2nd thoughts abt seeing a PD cos Amadeus was still very active, running here n there and playing wif us. Luckily we persisted.

Hb brought Amadeus to see the PD while I stayed at home to take care of Andre. I recived a call from Hb 1 hr later informing me tat Amadeus had to go for an X-ray to check for any infections since he keeps having cough. And it turned out tat he had pneumonia and was on the neubulizer at the clinic. According to Dr Cecilia, Amadeus had pneumonia for sometime and had since been stable but now it flared up again. I'm so shocked to hear tat. The previous PD we went to didn't detect the problem at all (she was Amadeus' PD and she knows tat Amadeus had been coughing for quite a while already).

Luckily we let Amadeus take the pneumoccal jab or else I can't imagine wat will happen to him since he had pneumonia for quite a while without us knowing. Now he had to complete a course of antibiotics and a cough med. The antibiotics is very bitter and it was difficult to feed Amadeus wif the med. We had to literally forced him down while I inject the med into his mouth. All along we had no problem feeding him wif med and he is happy to take them too. But this proved too much for him and he kept spitting out the bitter med. Just hope that he will gradually get used to the taste n not reject it.

Now my biggest worry is that Andre will be infected as Amadeus cannot go to school and had to remain at home. I'm seriously considering letting Andre wear a mask as Amadeus hated wearing one. Another thing is tat we definitely bringing forward the date for Andre to take the pneumoccal jab though he had numerous jabs to take as it is for the good of his health.

Now I just pray tat Amadeus will recover soon and tat Andre will not be infected by it.

*Amadeus is now 13kg and 93cm.

Offical Opening of Sengkang Sports & Recreation Centre

The centre was offically opened on 26 July 09, and Amadeus' sch also took part in the ceremony...hence, we decided to let Amadeus joined in and he needed to wear a traditional costume for it.

On tat day itself, after we dropped Amadeus off at the sch, we quickly took off to have a quick breakfast b4 going to the sports hall for the ceremony, awaiting the arrival of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Alas, when we went into the hall, Amadeus spotted us and came running towards us n refused to join back to the grp...hb quickly carried him back n we walked off ignoring his cries. Thankfully, he managed to calm down rather quickly n sat at his spot quietly...I tried to take a grp photo of the kids but Amadeus spotted me so after I took a shot, I quickly walked off...hee hee...

Amadeus and his friends was standing outside the hall, waving the S'pore flag to welcome the Prime Minister (PM)...too bad we can't take any photos...soon after welcoming the PM, his teacher brought him back to our seat n he joined us in watching the rest of the ceremony.

It was a very crowded day and the carnival was set up at the swimming area n most of the performance was located there...we stayed there for a while, bringing Amadeus ard to look see, look see....and all the while, Andre was fast asleep in his stroller even when the lion dance was being performed...oh yes, Amadeus was scared of the lion dance n refused to go near them....he run off crying when I tried to bring him closer...hahaa...evil me.

Happenings at the Swimming Pool...

Amadeus & Andre

Amadeus seems to be more n more receptive towards Andre. He will pat and sayang Andre when he cries and sometimes he will also put Andre's pacifier into his mouth to stop him from crying.

And whenever he got the chance, he will try to carry Andre. He will keep saying, 'hug, hug' or 'bao4 bao4' to me and wan me to pass Andre to him. And when he saw didi lying on the bed, he will always go n join him and lied down besides him.

Of course there are times when Amadeus was cranky or feeling jealous of didi. These times, he will not allow me to go near didi or carry him. Amadeus will hug me tightly and refused to let me go n pacify Andre even when he was crying.

Overall, Amadeus is a good big brother and a gd son as he will help me when I asked him to most of the times like helping me to take things or to throw soiled diaper.

Andre is recovering

Thanks to all my frens who shown concern for Andre...he is getting better after we brought him to see another PD last Saturday. He was given antibiotics and another cough med to take. After 3 days, his snorting and phlegmly sound disappear and he had no probem drinking his milk now.

I'm glad tat he is still putting on weight even while he was sick. The PD commented that he had a healthy weight gain (5.3kg as at last Sat) and tat he will be sent for X-ray if he still haven't recovered by this Saturday (going back for review). Hb and I are relieved that Andre need not go thru the X-ray :) Now we just hope tat his coughing will completely disappear soon.

p/s: It's 3.15am as I'm typing this cos Andre vommitted big time after his feed just now and I had to take a bathe and wait for my hair to dry b4 I can go sleep...while he is happily sleeping now...

p/p/s: something very wrong wif my blog...my template for writing my post is completely hay-wire...cannot do other things...only can type and change font..tat's all..cannot upload photos etc...so angry...

Andre puked again....

Yesterday nite ard 4am after having his milk, he started coughing n coughing and puked quite alot of milk. But this time round, he didnt cry...the one to cry is me as I need to wipe and change him and the bedsheets also need to be changed and I'm so so so tired! But at least I know tat he felt better after puking out some phelgm as he was smiling away when I was wiping and changing him (normally he will cried). After tat, he fell asleep.

This week, this is the 2nd time tat he puked not counting the numerous times he puked last week. According to Dr Lillian, the frequent vommiting of milk is not good as the acidity of the vommitted milk will harm the throat and caused his condition to worsen. But there was nothing much I could do as he normally would start coughing after his milk. I can only monitor him and if he still does not get any better, I will bring him to see another Pd that is recommended by hb's colleague in Tampines.

Guess I need to switch him back to soy milk so as not to worsen his phlegm (he was on soy milk until the tin was finished). At this pt in time, I regretted stopping my breastfeeding. I should have carried on...blame it on my un-determination and loads of excuses.

Andre is 2 mths old!

He turns 2 mths today and I can't wait for him to grow up quickly. Cos he always wanna be carried after he woke up from his nap, cannot lied down for long periods of time and he will cry till he gets what he wanted. So different from Amadeus' time.

But when he had enough sleep, he will wake up smiling. He is so charming when he smiles :)

His development is also faster than Amadeus:


1) He will turn his head towards the TV (where the sound comes from) when he was abt 2 weeks old.


2) He can lift his head momentarily off the bed, turn his head left n right when on his tummy - abt 2 weeks old.


3) He can grasp things n hold them tightly when he was abt 6 weeks' old. Now he loves to grasp my shirt when I'm carrying him.


4) He is a curious boy and will keep looking at his surrounding when he was abt 2 weeks old.


The above are some of the things tat I can remember off hand. All I ask is that he will be a healthy and happy baby and I will be very happy :)

Andre's 1st dose of 6-in-1 jab & Rotarix...

We brought Andre for his 1st jab though he was still not feeling very well on 4 July. But Dr Lillian gave the go ahead and proceed wif the jab and the oral med. Andre was very brave and didnt cry at all when being jab in the bottom. She also examined him and commented that his development was quite fast. He was able to lift up his head and looked around when being put on his tummy and etc.

Dr Lillian also gave Andre Zytec to take for 2 weeks and to stop the remaining medication. But the next day after the jab and the oral med (Rotarix),Andre started having diarrhoea and it gets worse n worse. He started to poo every milk feed and intervals btw the milk feeds. So tat is about 8 times per day. Really very heartpain to see him like tat cos he will cry abit at every pooing...I guess the redness at his anus caused him pain and all I could do was to apply lots of diaper cream for him to ease the pain.

Today, I called Dr Lillian and found tat the Rotarix might caused him to have diarrhoea..at least it eased my mind abit knowing tat it was not caused by the switching of goat's milk to cow's milk. She prescribe some Lacto capsules for Andre to take to help in the diarrhoea-ing. Hope tat he will recover soon as it is really very heartpain to see him suffer like tat at such a young age.

Amadeus is 2 yrs old!!!

We didn't plan to have a big celebration for Amadeus this yr as we had just celebrated Andre's full mth. So we decided to celebrate for him in his sch instead. Wat a terrible mistake!

When Hb and I reached the sch, the teacher asked us to wait outside as they r clearing up the place after their nap. Amadeus saw our reflection n when we didn't went in for him, he cried big time. Once inside, he hold our hands and wanna get out of the place. Even after telling him tat we were there to celebrate his b'day, he still cried and needless to say, the whole celebration was ruined. He was not in the mood to blow his candles nor taking of photos. Hence, after the b'day song, I blew the candles for him and the rest of the kids were quickly usher back to their seats (I wanna take photos of them wif Amadeus lor). Hb then quickly distributed the cupcakes for them. And the celebration was over...So duhz...wat kind of a celebration was tat! Hence, Hb and I decided not to celebrate for him in sch anymore cos Amadeus will enjoy more if we celebrated on our own.

Eventually, he managed to calm down and ate a little bit of the cupcakes but had 3 servings of the jelly...haha...and after tat, he was in a hurry to go off! We brought him to Vivo City as we need to buy a bigger bag for him to put all his barangs to bring to sch (initally wanna bring him to Kids Explorer but as he was still not feeling very well, we dropped the idea).

So disappointed tat the celebration turned out this way...it's not wat I had planned at all...haiz...
